Commandments 1-2: God Alone & No Idols
Parent Explanation:
The 1st rule God gave us is to love and worship only Him because He is our Creator.
The 2nd rule is to not worship statues or pictures as if they were God.
Questions:
Who should we love and worship? (Answer: Only God)
Should we worship pictures or statues? (Answer: No)

No Idols Gesture: Cross your arms in an 'X' to show we do not worship idols.

Commandments 3-4: God's Name in Vain & The Sabbath
Parent Explanation:
The 3rd rule is that God’s name is very special and we should always say it with love.
The 4th rule is that God made 1 day for rest and fun each week. He called it Sabbath, to spend time with family and Him.
Questions:
How should we say God’s name? (Answer: With respect and love)
What is the special day of rest each week? (Answer: The Sabbath)
Hand Motions:
Respectful Gesture: Place a hand over your heart when mentioning God’s name.
Rest Gesture: Pretend to lay your head on your hands as if sleeping.

Commandments 5-6: Honor Parents & No Harming Others
Parent Explanation:
The 5th rule God tells us is to listen to our mommies and daddies because they take care of us.
The 6th rule God also wants us to be kind to everyone and not hurt others.

Who should we listen to and respect? (Answer: Our parents)
Should we ever hurt others? (Answer: No)

Commandments 7-8: Be Faithful & Do Not Steal
Parent Explanation:
The 7th rule is to be faithful. That means being a true friend and family member.
The 8th rule says taking something that isn’t yours is wrong. We should always ask if we need something.

What does being faithful mean? (Answer: Being loyal and true)
Is it okay to take things that aren’t ours? (Answer: No)

Faithful Gesture: Place hand on chest, signifying loyalty.
No Stealing Gesture: Wave finger side to side, meaning 'no' or 'don't do it'.

Commandments 9-10: Do Not Lie & Do Not Covet
Parent Explanation:
The 9th rule says lying is telling something that isn’t true, and God wants us to always tell the truth.
The 10th rule says being jealous of what others have isn’t good. We should be thankful for what we have.

What should we do instead of lying? (Answer: Tell the truth)
